I would like to thank Worm and his momma for the sweet glory that I've been given :)
It was a pleasure to do their drawing and they are truly a great dog and human pair!

Halloween and JACKSON
Jackson is my sister's dog. We kept him for a few years while she was away at college and now that she's gotten married and moved away to another state, taking him, there's no way I could ever hang out with my furry friend any time again soon ;(
Anyways, to commemorate him, I'll be doing his portrait.

Petco
Hello! It's me, the roofiest of ruffs, Hank. Momma calls me Hanky Panky, but you may call me ultimate nonseeing leader of the free world. :)
So Momma and her boyman and lil O me went to petco the other day. At this glorious place, mom let me smell anything I wanted. She even let me smell some new people! Some gave me dogs treats and cookies, others rubbed my belly. One big retired marine man even sat on the floor with me and called me handsome, cutie, and all sorts of other truths as he patted my majestic fur for a LONG time. There was this one couple that just looked at me and said to eachother "look at his eyes!" to which momma interrupted the conversation and said "he doesn't have any eyes. " The just looked at her and said, "what, really?" HA! Ya think they would have known just by looking at me. I mean, they were checkin' me out for quite some time before momma had to tell them I am a no-seeing handsome basset.
If you want to see some more of me, here are a few awesome pics and some not so awesome pics about momma

There's me walking past some raw-hides. (They didn't tickle my fancy..)
That's me AGAIN! getting a good whiff of pee. I think this fella really had to let loose....
Oh yeah, that's mom's cacti's flower. I think it's from her baby toes or ET's fingers.
(yeah, I know they sound weird, but that's what they are called. Hehe)

I think this picture was taken on Thursday evening. 8-25-11
It's hard for me to believe Hank had his surgery done not too long ago. It feels as if he's much older than he really is and that I've had him for a couple years ATLEAST. Time goes by so quickly. :)
I got him a new harness a few days ago at petco. A Medium sized Kurgo harness. it was on sale and only $17!

Bassety
Worked on it a little more. Can you tell? the chest is looking better in my opinion.. But still not quite the way I want it. I have no clue how to blend it until I'm happy. Bigger brushes make blending easier. I'll try a really big brush I suppose. The snout- Also difficult.
I added more wrinkles and light shading to the right leg and I'm not pleased with it :) Yay
Waiting for the car guy and my brother to call so we can take it to a mechanic.. boring. I need cash to buy it with..

1989 Honda Prelude
I found this from the internet, it is not the actual honda prelude I'm wanting.
The one i'm looking at does not having the honda logo on the front. Instead, it's in the back seat of the car. (lol) I have clear drying cement that I will glue it on with though if I do decide to buy the car.
The right front fender on the car is messed up. It was in a wreck and was currently claimed as "totalled"
It now has a Salvage Title.. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with the axle. I test drove it and it didn't feel like the alignment was off.. In fact, it drove quite nicely and sounded like a little kitty :)
I flipped up the headlights to see if they work, and man.. For some reason, when they went up, I really got a kick out of it.. So did my brother who went driving with me (along with my dad)
It was freakin hilarious. We were both cracking up. We're a little nutty sometimes.. Ha!
I'm really excited about this car because I really like the exterior appeal of it. (Gosh I hope it's okay mechanically...Ugh! I will find out tomorrow morning!)
American WereWolf and Hank
that's what I'm watching now and what Hank is listening to. I must say, this movie is quite amazing the way they make him transform before your very eyes. Rick Baker (artist and make-up man, I commend you!)
Anyways, for more pressing matters -Hank! He is doing wonderful. He got his stitches out on Monday, which is absolutely fantastic! He's doing fantastic and if it weren't for those missing eye balls, no one would ever be able to tell that he can't see. Yes, he does run into the occasional open door, step stool, vacuum cleaner, purse, etc. But he makes his way around exceptionally well besides those few "rough bumps"
There Hank Williams is without his stitches!
I want to celebrate Halloween with him and take him trick-or-treating, but I have no clue what kind of costume to put him in. I also wanted to wheel him around in a rusty red wagon I have from my childhood to save him from the burden of walking around aimlessly... But no idea what to dress him up as yet. Any ideas? I don't much care for Ray Charles, but I'd love to make him a costume with a "fake body" and hands that are playing a piano. Plus he'd look great with some black custom fitted glasses!
Now for momma.
- I've been stuck in my search for cars. Plenty of things on craigslist, but whenever I find something I am actually interested in, it's already been sold by the time I contact the person. Yes, things sell that fast at the highest price of $1700.. Boo. Right now there's a man near my town selling a sporty 1989 Honda prelude.
My brother, sister, the man selling it and I are going to bring it to a mechanic tomorrow. It blows only hot air, no cruise control, passenger side window doesn't roll down, passenger seat belt is broken.. But what can I say, I really like this car so far.. I'm hoping there's nothing major going on with that A/C.. Like the compressor needs replacing or radiator or whatever else doesn't have to be replaced.. Maybe just add some Freon and it'll be A-OK. I pray that's ALL.
I'm also working on a new project
A big basset-y picture. 16"x20"
Looking good so far? let me tell you, the hardest part has been blending in the chest along with that left leg towards his back.
The wrinkles have been fun :) I'll add a blue-square shaped border around the outside area to add more dimension. This has been really fun to paint. I haven't painted a picture larger than 8" x 12" inches since last year. Just haven't felt the motivation.. I always flake out on painting. I hope I finish this because I'm pretty stoked on how well it's turned out so far.
and here's another picture I'm working on in colored pencil. Not too proud of it unfortunately.. I'm missing the right colored pencils so I haven't been able to do it the exact way I've wanted it.

The morning..
I have spent the past hour and a half cleaning out Hank's kennel of urine, removing the bottom filter tray and washing that clean, giving Hank a bath, and finally playing with him till he cooperates and eventually decided to fall asleep. It is now 5:46 AM.
I can't fall asleep at all. All the cogs in my head are turning and my brain is at full speed ahead, but my body has been reduced to a sad puddle of sleepiness.
Atleast Hank has had fun tonight! (other than wetting his bed and having to get his mommy to clean it for him, which I was so enthralled to do ) That's what puppies are for~!
Still in search of a car. I have $1400 saved and I'm just trying to get one before the school year starts so I don't have to share a minivan with my dad, I already feel sorry enough for him having to drive it. Not to mention, Texas weather is getting 110+ past week and the air conditioning BARELY works in that thing. I can survive without it, but I can't let Hank travel in that heat.
Saw a nice 1999 Nissan Sentra on craiglist today and so I texted the person and they never replied back. :( let down. It was only $1300, too. Oh poo..
atleast I know hundreds of cars and what nots are posted on their each day so I'll have a fresh start tomorrow. Looking for a nice 4-door that's from the late 80's-90's. preferably a honda, toyota, nissan.
No fords. no good experience with fords.
Sling some goodluck drool to Hank and I

AH! Oh my goodness
Long time no blog.
Hank has had his surgery and during the same operation was neutered.
Here are some before and after shots of my lil bugger.
He got the operation last wednesday and as of yesterday it's been one week since.
Good news is, he's finally got them out and he's healed quite well.
Bad news, his neutered stitches developed a small infection around that area.
More good news is, I have antibiotics and am now treating them :)
AND he has his rabies shots and his other vaccinations! Now he can go to a dog park and play with other friendly pups.

Dallas Mavs!
ARE CHAMPIONS! Yes, finally! Cowboys sucked, Rangers almoooost did it, BUT THE MAVS ACTUALLY DID IT! And even though I really don't watch basket ball, I am proud of my team (Especially since they Beat the Heat)
AHAHAAAAhahhooyie! Yup, beat the heat. Not very many people can "beat the heat" around here, especially not during the summer ;)
and even though I'm happy about that....... I had to cancel my vet appointment for my himalayan siamese cat because it's located right in the middle of the parade they're throwing for the mavs tomorrow.. Lame/Yay Mavs! He probably hasn't been to the vet in a couple years, though, and he really needs to get checked up on. :(
.....Woo Mavs!..
Oh well! Re-scheduled for next Tuesday at 9:30 AM

If you really love your dog, you'll make them these..
donut delights
Now for a little taste of
Ingredients
Donuts
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
2/3 cups Beef Broth
1 Egg
3 tablespoons Oats
Carob Frosting
1/2 cup Carob Chips
3 tablespoons Butter
1/4 cup Honey
1/4 cup Milk/Soy Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Any topping of your choice (carob chips, bacon bits, mint leaves, parsley, peanuts, any thing safe your dog is fond of)
Directions
Donuts
1. Preheat oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
2. Beat egg and in a large bowl, mix with flour and beef broth.
3. Once completely mixed add oats until all ingredients are combined.
4. Roll onto a lightly floured surface 1/2 inch thick.
5. Use a donut cutter to cut the dough and place on a prepared baking sheet. (I don’t have a donut cutter so I just used a biscuit cutter and a small circle cutter to cut out the middles.) Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until browned. Allow to cool and harden.
Once donuts are cool dip the tops of the donuts into the carob frosting and decorate with your topping of choice.
My donuts are topped with bacon bits, carob drops and dried spearmint leaves.
Carob Frosting
In a saucepan, combine the ingredients and warm over med-low heat while stirring continuously once melted store in fridge.

And if your dog(s) have begun developing fleas like most of my animals have (Sometimes living right next to a creek can have some nasty downsides, even if it's a pretty place to be near..)

HANKS EYES AS OF 6-15-11
I love how he tilts his head when I talk to him in a relatively high pitched tone. He is just SOOOO cute!
He is a precious pup, as you can tell.
Today I gave him 1 Clavamox( Last pill.. Apparently I don't need a refill since it's an antibiotic and his eyes aren't infected.. )
He's had his Glycerin today, too. Put it along with his water. (3cc every 8 hours along with 3cc water or melted icecream, milk, etc. ) gave it to him at 7:30 and again around 5 pm.
He's also had both of his drops today. (Dorzolamide- 1 drop 3 times a day, prednisolone acetate 1%- 1 drop every 8 hours. ) Dorzolamide- 7:30, again at 5 pm. Prednisolone- 7:30, again at 5 pm. )
and Vetprofen 24mg- 1/4 tab. by mouth two times a day(q 12hours). gave it to him at 7:30 gotta do it again around 8 pm.
He has to get that glycerin again around 1 AM along with his Dorzolamide and Prednisolone and the vetprofen...
PHEW! Lots of keeping track of things to do! I haven't started a written schedule yet, either. It's been a few weeks since he's on meds and I've just been trying to remember what times to give him his medicines.. I don't think I've messed up at all, not even once.
Maybe it's about time I start a schedule, hm? I'll use this blog space as an excuse to make one. Heh. I'll just post when I give him his meds for the first time of the day and which ones I've given him along with when the next time is that I need to give them to him.
This is a vanity I recieved from my boyfriend's cousin. I'm going to strip it and re-varnish it. I think it would look beautiful with a fresh painting of varnish.. That was a picture from yesterday. As of now, it still stands in our back driveway.. It's taunting me! But it's too hot to go out there and work on it again. Around 99 degrees outside right now, so not too bad compared to what it was earlier. (Must've been 102-105?)
This is a portrait of Hank I did last night! It was pretty fun to create.
I recently found a set of water color pencils and I'm aching to use them.
Brought Hank to work for about an hour- hour and a half before my boyfriend came and picked him up. No one really minded him. In fact, everyone is in love with him! The "aww'ing" never seems to stop with him around.. He'll growl and bark from excitement, he loves the attention! And everyone just eats it up.. :)
"AW HANK IS SO CUTE GIVE ME HIM!" hahaha
"AW HANK IS SO CUTE GIVE ME HIM!" hahaha
First Day of this blog...
9:20 A.M.
Hello! Hank is my pet and I'm his momma. He's nearing 14 weeks old, I `spose.
At around 7 weeks old, 5-15-11, His left eye was shut that morning, looked a little inflamed around his brow and he wouldn't open it. When I tried opening it, he would bark from the pain and pull away. From what I could manage to see, there was a white film covering it... I thought he had just scratched it or bumped it while in his kennel on a toy during the night...
So, I contacted the man who I got him from (A very nice guy off craiglist who lives in the same town I do) and I told him my situation. Sent him pictures of the little guy's eye and talked to him over the phone, too. The next day we took him to a Vet. Waited four hours at the walk-in clinic. Missed work.. But Didn't matter too much at the time because of how concerned I was with Hank. Long story short, the vet prescribed just some anti-infection ointment and some liquid. A week later and no change in his eye, plus the right eye starting to look nearly the same, we went to another doctor the next Sunday. That doctor basically did the same thing for us and also said it was an infection, but it was more or less caused by a virus that had gotten into his system and was attacking his eyes. The reason they were so inflamed was because his immune system was fighting the virus behind the eye and causing a build up of liquid.. Two days of his additional perscribed medicine and no change in Hank's eyes, we were referred to an Ophthalmologist who told us it is glaucoma.. There's something wrong with the angles of his eyes so they aren't draining fluid properly... Since his left eye had been like that for so long, the doctor things the lens has detached and fallen, so he could be blind in that eye!
At the visit, his eyes were too cloudy to really see what's going on, so we waited a week and went back. His eyes were looking less cloudy because of the glycerin and drops he gave us, but they were still cloudy enough so that a gionoscopy wouldn't be able to accurately predict what is going on.
It's been nearly two weeks since we first went to that Opthalmaologist (I still can't pronounce is right), and since then, being on about 8 different medications since that original vet visit, and his eyes are FINALLY looking a little better..
But I'm dreading the word "Glaucoma" so badly right now.. He's so young and He doesn't deserve something like this... If I had known when I got him what kind of situation he'd be in right now, I'm not sure I would have gotten him... But now that I have him, I'm in complete love. He is such a wonderful Basset! and so handsome, too!
I'll post more information later... Right now, it's time to get ready for work. I may possibly bring Hank.. Or else, He may have to spend 8-9 hours alone... I can't do that to the lil' guy!
Please stay updated!
